  1. For the first time ever, audiences get a behind-the-scenes insight into the world’s first truly global media event: “Operation Cablerun” : the 2011 operation during which WikiLeaks ran hundreds of thousands of secret US government cables to media outlets around the world.
In Mediastan, an undercover team of journalists drives across the central Asian republics of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and into US occupied Afghanistan, before continuing its journey into the west; regrouping in Julian Assange’s kitchen, ambushing the editor of the Guardian, and obtaining candid footage of the New York Times editor and its publisher Arthur Sulzberger.

  2. Guantanamo Brit Resident Shaker Aamer Says Treatment By US Worse Than ‘Despotic Regime’

Shaker Aamer, the last British resident in Guantanamo Bay has accused the US government of enforcing a punishment on him that even the most “despotic regime” would not countenance.
In a piece for The Huffington Post, penned from a phone call from the US military prison in Cuba with Reprieve director Clive Stafford Smith, Aamer said that even if the men had committed the crimes of which they are accused, holding them indefinitely was torture.
“Let’s pretend for a moment that the torture statements made by these men are true: the US should look at the worst that each person is meant to have done, assume they did it even if they did not, and then ask whether they deserve more than twelve years of abuse in this terrible prison,” Aamer wrote. 3.
